FAQs
How do I place an order?
Owing to the customised nature of my folded book art the vast majority of orders are placed via email or through the messaging system on my Facebook page following your quote request and our in depth discussion about the kind of design you are looking for, its purpose, your budget, when you need it by etc. This crucial step in ensures the initial set of designs I create are closely tailored to your requirements, which reduces the need for too many revisions.
If you are keen to progress after our discussions, I will ask for a £40 deposit upfront (for all customised orders), which will need to be paid before I can begin work on your designs. This deposit is partially refundable (if you decide to cancel during the initial design stage, before any revisions, you will be refunded £20), but the full £40 will be deducted from your outstanding balance if you proceed. I will create around 6-8 designs for you to choose from, each varying slightly in price to cater to your budget range. Once you have selected your chosen design from these trials, I will make one revision for free if necessary, but each subsequent edit will incur a small additional fee according to complexity. I will require the outstanding balance to be paid in full before I can begin working on the book itself. I will send you the invoice for both the deposit and the balance via Paypal, and begin work as soon as your payment has cleared for each stage of the process.
For 'standard' or non-customised designs which require no additional design work (ie. ones which I've designed previously or simple names, words or shapes which have standard, self-explanatory layouts), I will simply require the full balance upfront.
Please see the Terms and Conditions for full details.
You can pay via Paypal using a credit or debit card even if you do not have a Paypal account. Visit www.paypal.com for more information. You can contact me for a quote or to place an order using the form on the contact page, or by emailing me at info@spellboundbookart.co.uk.
I want to fold my own book, can you show me how?
This is an area I will be developing over the coming weeks, but I will be creating a range of services to enable you to fold your own books using patterns and instructions that I provide for you. I will also be able to create custom book folding patterns for you to purchase, using the exact specifications of the book you intend to use so that you can achieve a really high quality result. Keep an eye on my social media channels for updates about this service.
How much do Spellbound Book Art book sculptures cost?
Generally speaking, my book sculptures range from £50-£150 (with the vast majority being around £70-£90), but there are many variables determining the exact price. Please see the Price Guide for more information.
Can you fold a specific book for me that I have chosen myself?
There's a good chance I may be able to use a book title of your choice, but you would need to contact me to discuss this as your desired choice may not be suitable and/or obtainable. For reference, it needs to be a hardback, have at least 350 pages (450+ is recommended for best results), and be around 18-23cm tall. If you already own the book we will need to arrange for you to send it to me, but if you want me to attempt to source it for you on your behalf (I can't guarantee that I'd be able to find it though) I could do this, but additional charges will apply.

What kind of designs can you make?
Due to the fact I manually design and create all of the artwork for the patterns, I can fold virtually any design into a book sculpture! For example, I am more than happy to use your pet or family photographs to create unique portraits for you, but please bear in mind that this is a very time consuming process to create the artwork for AND to make the finished book sculpture (due to the high level of detail necessary), so this will cost more than a design based around simple shapes or text.
I can also create custom artwork from scratch without using reference photographs if you would like something to be completely uniquely designed exclusively for you, such as this one-of-a-kind dragon and music themed folded book sculpture I designed and produced.
I own a business, can you make me a folded book sculpture featuring my own business name and/or logo?
Of course! Depending on the length of the text and the complexity of the logo I may need to employ multiple techniques in order to achieve the best results, but I will work with you to find a solution that fits your needs. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.
How are the book sculptures packaged?
Each folded book sculpture is carefully wrapped in a protective cellophane sleeve, before being nestled securely amongst bubble wrap and attractive golden tissue paper.
The outside of the box is decorated with my unique Spellbound Book Art graphics, and I add a reference image to the end of the box to identify which design is contained within, and demonstrate how it should look when displayed correctly.
Postage, delivery, returns and cancellations
Option 1: 1st Class Recorded Delivery - £5.95 per item - 1-2 days after dispatch (covered up to £50 in case of loss or damage)
Option 2: Next Day Guaranteed Delivery - £9.95 per item - next day after dispatch (covered for full amount in case of loss or damage)
Dispatch times will vary depending on the product(s) you've ordered, but are usually 3-5 working days for simple designs (such as basic shapes and/or text) and 7-10 working days for more complex ones (such as designs with multiple elements, or those which need a large amount of graphic design work). These times are a guide only and in many cases your order will be dispatched sooner, but it could also take longer during busy periods so please bear this in mind if you need your order in a hurry. It is also important to note that the delivery times are based on Royal Mail's standard guidelines, so actual delivery times depend on their own efficiency once your order is in their hands!
I currently only ship within the UK, but if you live elsewhere in the world and would like to purchase one of my folded book sculptures, please contact me and I will see what I can do!
Returns - due to the tailor-made nature of the majority of my folded book sculptures, I am unfortunately unable to accept returns for any customised designs (unless damaged or faulty in some way). Returns of standard designs (ie. ones which could be re-sold elsewhere eg. the word 'home') may be discretionally considered under some circumstances (excluding original and return postage costs). Please see Terms and Conditions for full details.
Cancellations - You may cancel your order at any point during the design process, but in doing so you will forfeit at least £20 of your deposit, plus the cost of any additional fee-incurring revisions you have purchased. Once I have begun to work on the book sculpture itself (which will be as soon as the remainder of the balance has been paid), cancellations will be no longer be possible. Please see Terms and Conditions for full details.
